  • Arrange to meet or presentation with our Director of Training & Education Tommie Wilkins  in order to learn more about dating and domestic violence, and what you can “raise awareness” 

 

 

  • Distribute dating and domestic violence information at locale venues, i.e. hang Laurel House posters and literature at local liberties, police station and post office.

 

  • Take The Pledge: in honor of National Teen Dating Violence Awareness & Prevention month which is held each February or for National Domestic Violence Awareness & Prevention month which is held each October. Students at your school can take a stand against dating violence by signing a “Pledge of Non-Violence.”  This is can be week long or one day event.

 

  • Organize a “Dress Down/in Purple Day” at your school or church.  Have people pay to “dress down” for the day.  Collect and give the proceeds to Laurel House.  Some groups make this a monthly event. 

 

  • Assistance in planning a performance, art exhibit or hosting a movie party on campus or night on the topic of teen dating or domestic violence followed by a discussion session. Book club reading a book with the topic of Dating Violence “Breathing Under Water”

 

  • Organize a Bowl-A-Thon, a volley ball tournament, a Walk –A- Thon, BBQ, Concert, Garage Sale, and so on, and give funds raised to LH.

 

  • Do a used cell phone and printer cartridge collection drive (we provide the collection boxes, brochures and receipts).

 

  • Support our Marian’s Attic Resale Shop, located in King of Prussia.  We welcome shoppers and donors.

 

  • Collect items from Laurel House wish list. On line www.laurel-house.org and have a party around the collection i.e. T.P., Pillow, P.J. parties. i.e. Pajama Party come to the party in your P.J.’s and to enter the party you will need to bring two new P.J.’s to be donated to the Laurel House shelter.  

 

  • Develop a month or weekly column or write an article for the school paper on the subject of Dating Violence i.e. Is Dating Violence a concern for students today.

 

  • Develop a segment for the school TV broadcast or radio broadcast program subject of Dating Violence weekly, monthly or for February Dating Violence Awareness or October Domestic Violence.

 

Establish or make part of a current club Dating Violence Awareness
